【Course Objectives】

The purpose of this course is to provide students of the Faculty of Law with the reading skill in Japanese required to understand lectures at the Faculty of Law. In addition, the students enrolled in this course will acquire the writing skills necessary for preparing reports at the Faculty of Law and answering exam questions.

【Course Contents】

Students will read texts pertinent to their studies at the Faculty of Law and will explain the content in their own words. Additionally, based on the content they understood, students will link it to summarize and write their opinions. The following skills will be focused in writing: (1) based on what students have read, they conduct further research by reading additional literatures and others and write a summary in a report, and (2) students comprehend the content of the reading materials and answer questions in writing within a given time limit. In addition, vocabulary and sentence pattern required for writing in Japanese will also be covered. In the second half of the course, students will report in specialized courses and take a written test simulating the examination to determine whether they have acquired sufficient Japanese language skills for their studies at the Faculty of Law.
