【Course Objectives】

The objective of this seminar is to develop reading comprehension of specialized English-language literature in law through intensive reading of literature on U.S. antitrust law, as well as to understand the basic concepts of antitrust law with a comparative legal perspective between Japan and the United States.

【Course Contents】

In this seminar, students will prepare and report Japanese translations of designated parts of the text, and the entire class will discuss the Japanese translations and the concept underlying the Antimonopoly Law. In preparing the Japanese translation, students are expected to carefully identify the structure of each sentence.
(Points to keep in mind when enrolling in this seminar)
・The course language is Japanese.
・Since the same literature will be read continuously, continuous attendance is a prerequisite. Absences due to unavoidable reasons such as illness will be considered, but the more absences you have, the more difficult it will be to keep up with the class.
・In this seminar, students will read English literature using the method of intensive reading, rather than the method of extensive reading. Students who want to improve their reading comprehension of English legal literature by strengthening their ability to understand English texts structurally are welcomed.
