【Course Objectives】

This seminar aims to develop an understanding of collaborative processes to help multi-stakeholder groups create solutions to complex problems.

【Course Contents】

Mediation is a private and consensual process in which an impartial person, a mediator, works with disputing parties to help them explore settlement, reconciliation, and understanding among them. This is an interactive seminar that will require weekly readings and preparation. Because the role-plays are the main activity, participation in the class discussion is valued; attendance, class participation, and written assignments are the core evaluation components.

As this is an advanced class of “Negotiation Basics,” students interested in taking this seminar are recommended to take it in advance.

The students in this seminar may have the opportunity to participate in the ICC mediation competition (https://2go.iccwbo.org/).
