【Course Objectives】

The goal is to learn about early modern Japanese society and to understand its characteristics. I would like to examine how early modern Japanese society was formed and how it changed, using concrete historical materials.

【Course Contents】

Various facts related to early-modern Japanese society will be picked up to consider the characteristics of early-modern Japanese society. In class, I would like to take up historical materials from the early modern period, examine what we can learn from them, and deepen our understanding of early-modern Japanese society. The period covered is from the establishment of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's government to the late early modern period.
