1. Students will be able to analyze tourism in New York City from a historiographical perspective.
2. Learning from recent historical studies of New York City, students can propose new tourism courses.
3. Students will be able to evaluate proposed courses from historiographical perspectives.
Driven by methods and information from historical studies, this course requires students to propose alternative sightseeing plans for New York City. Students will learn critical histories of the city, present sightseeing courses, and engage in in-class discussions about their plans.

ニューヨーク市マンハッタンは世界中から観光客を惹きつける。ただししばしば、その「観光sightseeing」はニューヨーク史のある限られた面をパッケージ化して消費するものになっている。本講義は、歴史学の手法でこの観光都市ニューヨークを読み直し、受講者とともに別の（オルタナティブな）観光プランを考える。
本講義は、歴史学的な地域研究への入門科目であるとともに、歴史学の知見と方法を社会実装するパブリック・ヒストリーへの誘いである。
