Words such as "the economy" and "disparity" are often used in daily life and are often noted as social problems. However, the details of "the economy" and "disparity" are diverse, and it is not easy to grasp them as reality. In addition, various information can be stored electronically, and its amount is increasing at an accelerating rate. This situation has led to complex issues regarding the understanding of society through data. The aim of this course is to use statistical information to gain a better understanding of these issues and to gain a perspective for discussing the issues facing society.
We will see and think about the current issue on contemporary Japan using official statistics. The classes consist of lecture, exercises, and discussion. For each theme, we will interpret the statistics and develop skills to share their respective features and issues.

「景気」や「格差」といった言葉は日常でも多く用いられ、社会問題として注目されることが多い。しかしながら「景気」や「格差」が示す内容は多岐にわたり、実態としてこれらをとらえるのは容易ではない。また、あらゆる情報が電子的に蓄積可能となり、その蓄積量は加速度的に増加している事から、データによる社会の把握により複雑な課題が生じている。本講義では、統計情報を利用してこれらの問題についての理解を深め、社会が抱える問題を論じるための視点を得ることを目的とする。

統計情報を利用して現代社会の現状を理解する方法を学ぶ。授業は講義と演習・議論を組み合わせて行う。毎回のテーマについて、得られた統計を読み解き、その特徴や課題を共有するスキルを養う。

・本授業は、「対面（一部オンライン）」である。対面7回。オンライン（動画）7回。
・第5, 7, 9, 11, 13回は演習回のため、教室で行う。
・第1回目と第14回目も教室。それ以外は動画で自習を行う。
・教室に出席すべきスケジュールを間違えずに押さえておくこと
