【Course Objectives】

The course will focus primarily on the basic concepts of analyzing social survey data and its descriptive methods.

【Course Contents】

Students will learn methods and indices that express characteristics of the distribution of variables such as frequency distribution tables, calculation of proportions, cross tabulation, Cramer's V, representative value, variance and standard deviation, and indices that express the strength of relationships among variables such as covariance and correlation coefficient, and understand how to reach interpretation of data such as the difference between causal relationship and correlation relationship. The course also aims to help students understand the social scientific implications of the data, while also dealing with statistical data other than individual data, such as government statistics, and time series data.
