【Course Objectives】

The class shall examine the current state of Japanese society through films that are closely related to contemporary Japan.

【Course Contents】

The seminar will examine cinema as a form of popular culture that emerged in the 20th century and analyze its pertinence to contemporary Japanese society. As the course is designed to be interactive, students will be required to view the assigned films, actively engage in presentations, and participate in discussions. The selection of films for analysis may vary according to the students, but potential choices include "The Kirishima Thing", ”we made a beautiful bouquet”, "Aristocrats".
