【Course Objectives】

Students will understand and be able to explain gender differences in academic study and career choices. Students will be able to describe the influence that socializer input and feedback has on children during their development process. Students will be able to connect student beliefs with potential future choices. Students will be able to analyze research papers to understand the use of the Expectancy Value Theory in the investigation of gender differences.

【Course Contents】

This course will focus on understanding gender differences through studies on achievement motivation theory. The course will cover the history of achievement motivation and underscore how the perceptions of socializers and children combine to establish gender differences, which then influence education and career choices.
