【Course Objectives】

This course begins by looking at the foundation of human rights: the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It then introduces the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and looks at how these goals aim to achieve the ideals embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Students will then focus in on a particular SDG goal and write a report explaining the policy, aims and effectiveness of that goal in reaching the 2030 aims. Finally, students will present their findings to the class.

【Course Contents】

Students will develop their understanding of how policy made at a global level trickles down to influence outcomes at a local level. Students will also develop their academic skills in conducting research, writing a report, and presenting information in relation to human rights, the SDGs and social welfare in English.
