Students will study the presence of material chemistry in daily life and also develop interests in the materials and the principles of chemistry.
From the perspective of material chemistry, we can recognize all the things, including living things, as the aggregates of atoms and molecules. The purpose of this course is to consider the technologies and problems facing modern society and also to develop interests in the material chemistry and principles of chemistry. The course deals with the air, ozone layer, global warming, energy and chemistry in society, water, acid rain, nanotechnology, polymers, intermolecular force, molecular recognition, and liquid crystals.

私達の身の回りを物質という観点から見渡し、化学の原理（化学構造と性質、反応など）と物質への興味を深め、知識人として人類の生活と化学物質の関わりや環境問題（大気汚染、オゾン層破壊、エネルギー、温暖化、水質汚染など）を考えていくことを目標とする。
Students will study the presence of material chemistry in daily life and also develop interests in the materials and the principles of chemistry.
物質の観点から私達の身の回りをながめると、生命体を含めて、原子の結合体や分子の集合体に他ならない。本授業では、身の回りを物質の観点から捉え、身の回りの技術や現代が抱える課題を考えることにより、化学の原理と物質科学に対する興味を深めることを目的とする。 空気、 オゾン層、 地球温暖化、エネルギー・化学・社会、 水、 酸性雨、ナノテクノロジー、高分子、分子間力と分子認識、液晶をそれぞれ題材とした講義を行う。
