To expand knowledge about the infant mind by learning previous scientific findings regarding the early development of the mind. Students are expected to explore the answer to the question "what human mind is?" via comparisons between their own and infants' minds.
Do infants having no verbal ability have complex mind? Do we have any ability (or phenomenon) which can be defined as "mind" in very early stages in our lives? This lecture introduces various scientific findings regarding infant mind in the relevant research fields such as experimental psychology, developmental psychology, and neuroscience.

様々な心的機能の初期発達過程に関する科学的知見を学び、乳幼児の心的世界についての理解を深める。また、自身の心的世界と乳幼児の心的世界の比較を通して、ヒトの心とはそもそも何であるのか、という問いについて考察する機会を得る。

自分の心の内を語ることのない乳幼児がどのような心的世界を持つのか、また発達初期における「心」とはそもそもどのような状態であるのかについて、実験心理学や発達心理学、神経科学などの諸分野における学術的知見を紹介しながら、講義形式で解説、考察していく。
