The objective of this course is for students to study the fundamentals of the German language and learn a balance of the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), with the aim of building a foundation for courses taken in the fall semester.
Students learn the basics of German pronunciation, basic expressions used in daily life, explanations of grammar items and basic vocabulary (about 300 words) while practicing speaking and listening comprehension. Also, through the history and culture of the German speaking sphere, students cultivate cultural understanding and a capacity for coexistence for a multicultural society.

言語の四能力（聞く・話す・読む・書く）のバランスある習得を目標に， ドイツ語の初歩的基礎を学習し，秋学期の履修の土台を形成することを目指す。

文法事項の説明，基礎語彙（約300語），口頭練習，聞き取り練習などを行いながら，ドイツ語の発音の基礎，日常生活に即した基礎的な表現を学習する。さらに，ドイツ語圏の歴史や文化を通し，多文化社会における文化理解と共生力を養う。
