【Course Objectives】

This course is designed for students who have completed the first half of intermediate-level study. Students will learn to read sentences on general topics. They will be able to comprehend the contents while understanding structure and development of sentences. They will also read written materials expressing different perspectives on the same topic and become able to understand the details of each position. Finally, reading comprehension will be used as a tool to build students’ active and passive vocabulary knowledge.

【Course Contents】

Students will be presented a variety of reading materials in various styles, such as descriptions, essays, newspaper articles, and novels, to learn reading skills, comprehend contents, etc. Students will also discuss the things they have read and practice communicating content to others. They will summarize sentences as well, both in class and as homework. Moreover, quizzes on designated vocabulary will be given every class in order to build vocabulary.
