You will come to understand that a landscape is not just its scenery but a phenomenon of interaction between people and environments. After learning about the various relationships between people and societies who create landscapes and their environment, we will consider various issues related to preservation of landscapes and the environment in relation to tourism.
After reviewing various concepts related to landscapes, along with landscapes concepts related to tourism, I will introduce analysis and evaluation methods, as well as design and preservation methods from the point of view of spatial/regional planning theory. In addition, we will divide natural landscapes, urban landscapes, agricultural village landscapes, fishing village landscapes, etc. into specific spaces, and consider the current situation and issues surrounding them with regard to people’s lives, especially when it comes to tourism and recreation. I will also introduce the position of landscape concepts in environmental ethics.

景観や風景(ランドスケープ）が単なる景色ではなく，人間と環境との間の「現象」であることを理解し，景観・風景を成り立たせる人間および社会と環境との諸関係について学んだ上で，観光と関連した景観保全および環境保全に関わる諸課題を知り，考察する。

多様な景観概念に触れた上で，観光に関わる景観・ランドスケープ概念に沿いつつ，空間計画論的な立場から，景観の分析・評価およびデザインや保全の方法について紹介する。また自然景観，都市景観，農山村景観，漁村景観など，具体的対象空間に分けて，人々の生活，特に観光・レクリエーションとの関わりについて現状や課題を考察する。また環境倫理学における景観概念の位置づけについても紹介する。
