Students will learn how to operate GIS (geographical information system), and students will be able to analyze tourism statistics, location of tourism attractions, tourist behaviors.
With the development of computers and the Internet in our modern society, GIS has come to be used in every kind of social phenomena. Tourism is no exception, and GIS is used in corporate marketing and municipal policy drafting, urban planning, etc. In this course, we will use Arc GIS as we learn basic GIS operation and map expression. In addition, we will learn procedures for the mapping of tourism statistics, tourism attractions, and tourist behavior using the GIS. We will create a class project summarizing the results of these analyses. In the latter half of the course, students will apply the techniques they have learned to create their own final report.

GIS（地理情報システム）の操作方法を習得し、観光統計や観光対象の立地、観光行動などの分析を行えるようになる。
Students will learn how to operate GIS (geographical information system), and students will be able to analyze tourism statistics, location of tourism attractions, tourist behaviors.
コンピューターとインターネットの発達した現代社会において、GISは社会のあらゆる現象に活用されるようになった。観光も例外ではなく、企業のマーケティングや自治体の政策立案・まちづくりなどで用いられている。本授業ではArc GISを使用し、GISの基礎的操作と地図表現を学習する。また、GISを活用した観光統計、観光対象、観光行動の地図化の手順を習得するとともに、分析結果をまとめた授業課題を作成する。授業の後半では習得した技術を活用し、最終課題を各自作成する。
