“Fudo (Socio-ecological cultural complex)” is one of the concepts of environment that comprehensively captures the nature and culture of a region, but while there are various industries that use the environment as a resource, such as agriculture - it can be said that tourism is the industry most directly using “Fudo” as a resource. As part of tourism planning and resource conservation theory, we will consider ways that sustainable tourism makes use of “Fudo” characteristics.
We consider the concept of “Fudo (Socio-ecological cultural complex)”, and highlight its significance in relation to environmentally related concepts, while introducing several examples. We will also consider the characteristics of “Fudo” that support regions not only as tourism resources but as the foundation of the tourist experiences, along with the methods involved in its conservation

「風土」は地域の自然と文化を包括的にとらえる環境の概念の一つであるが，農業をはじめとして環境を資源とした産業がさまざまにある中で，この風土を直接資源とする産業が観光であるということができる。観光資源論および観光計画論の一環として，風土の特質を活かした持続的な観光のあり方について考える。

風土という概念およびそれを取り上げる意義について，環境に関わる諸概念との関係を踏まえながら考えた上で，風土と深くかかわる観光資源の例を何種類か取り上げてその特質を紹介する。また観光資源であるばかりでなく観光体験の基盤となる地域を支える風土の特質について，その保全にかかわる諸手段とともに考える。
