【Course Objectives】

Through study of the historical development of events surrounding tourism, students will learn the basic knowledge and perspective required for study in the College of Tourism.

【Course Contents】

Within historical development of events surrounding tourism, this course examines cases in the West and in Japan. Periods of study are centered on characteristics of tourism in early modern, modern, and contemporary times. The course provides not only basic knowledge, but also basic analytical perspectives needed to understand tourism, including social factors behind its historical development, complexity, regional transversality, etc. In addition, the course covers the effectiveness of historical continuity, in order to understand better the current state of tourism.
