We will understand the diversity of regional nature and culture, regional differences, and the unique characteristics of an area. By doing so, we will discover what makes the area attractive, and eventually make it into a tourist destination.
We will use geographical theory and methods in the seminar. Specifically, we will consider, what is there, why it is there (location), how it was made (regional formation and transformation), where and why to go (tourist sphere and tourism behaviors), and who comes from where (visitor profiles and areas).

地域の自然・文化の多様性や地域差，地域の個性を理解する。そうすることで地域の魅力を発見し，引き出し，ひいては観光まちづくりに結実させる。

演習の実施にあたっては，地理学の理論や手法を援用する。具体的には，どこに何があるのか・なぜそこにあるのか（立地），どのようにしてできたのか（地域形成と変容），どこになぜ行くのか（観光圏と観光行動），どのような人がどこから来るのか（客層と集客圏）などを考えていく。

授業時間外に，グループのメンバー同士で討論を交わして，研究方法から資料収集と分析，配付資料とスライド作成，プレゼン技術，論文執筆にいたるまで，自分たちの型を見出しつつ実行する。現地視察会を企画し，全員で各グループの対象地域を巡検する。学期末には，論文を執筆し，論文集を出版する。
