【Course Objectives】

Based on the progress in the course “Seminars on Psychology F,” this course provides guidance to students who have chosen the fields of cognitive psychology, extended social psychology, and high-level cognitive processing (the psychology of judgment and decision making, consumer behavior and purchase decision making, and human information behavior and Internet use) as research themes for their graduation thesis. Specifically, students shall be guided on conducting empirical research, analyzing data, and writing theses.

【Course Contents】

Based on the progress in the course “Seminars on Psychology F,” students shall receive support with their graduation thesis themes and guidance on preparing and conducting surveys and experiments. During this process, the professor instructs students individually with reference to literature for their topic, also assisting them in self-learning and their search for literature. Research themes of graduation papers cover research areas in social psychology and cognitive psychology that are garnering attention in modern society, such as judgement and decision making, consumer behavior, consumer decision making, human behavior related to Internet use, and high-level cognitive processes (i.e. memory, perception, language comprehension and generation, problem solving, reasoning, decision making).
Students receive guidance on understanding preceding studies and adding personal views and observations, drafting a research plan, preparing and conducting experiments and surveys, analyzing data with statistical software, studying and discussing results, and completing their graduation papers. At the set times, all course participants present their research progress and discuss it. It is recommended that students complete their experiments and surveys before the end of the spring semester. Individual guidance on research is also actively given outside of class time.
