Students will understand the basic issues about the meaning and types of social surveys, and we will provide an outline of the basic issues concerning the process from collection of materials and data to analysis.
Actual examples will be used for students to learn the history and purpose of social research, survey methodology, and survey types (quantitative survey, qualitative surveys, etc.). In addition, an overview will be given of the fundamental matters regarding the implementation process from the collection of data to its analysis.

社会調査の意義と諸類型に関する基本的事項を理解し，資料やデータの収集から分析までの諸過程に関する基礎的な事項について概説する。
Students will understand the basic issues about the meaning and types of social surveys, and we will provide an outline of the basic issues concerning the process from collection of materials and data to analysis.
社会調査史、社会調査の目的、調査方法論、調査の種類（量的調査と質的調査など）と実例について学ぶ。加えて、データの収集から分析までの実施過程に関する基礎的な事項についても概説する。

日頃のニュース等で調査や統計に関して触れていくことが望ましい。
