【Course Objectives】

Students will create film projects and trough watching them, they will deepen consideration of space, time, direction, and acting characteristic to films.

【Course Contents】

Students make groups of 7-8 people and make a film project of several tens of seconds/minutes according to the assignment. The grades heavily depend on attendance and participation as this is a workshop-style course. The class takes up 2 time blocks, so skipping even one day will make getting the credit difficult. It is unacceptable to skip class, be late or leave early for any reasons other than being late due to traffic accidents (submitting confirmation for that), absence due to mourning (or due to an accident or disease of the family member) or due to sickness confirmed by doctor's note. Absence or leaving early due to circle or club activities is unacceptable, so students who prioritize those should withdraw from this workshop. Being late is prohibited. Unlike lectures, if just one member is late, the activities of the whole group may come to a halt. It is not enough to just attend all lessons. A lot of time is needed for out-of-class activities, like preparation, filming and editing, so students should be prepared for this. They should be enthusiastic. One of the assignments was on specific places, like staircases. Assignments on techniques like moving shots. It covers a lot of topics including shooting silent movies. This semester the plan is to use "memories" as motifs for film projects at the Niiza campuss. Before the first lesson, students should come up with some ideas. Also, they should watch at least 2-3 movies on the topic outside class schedule and write short reports on them, which would be graded and added to in-class points.
