Moving-image works are created under various limitations. In the future, when students will work on productions in a professional capacity, they will find that they rarely have an ample budget or enough time. However, an outstanding creator will leave their mark on the work even under these limitations.
In this workshop, students will seek to discover their own artistry through creating assigned work under certain sets of conditions.
Over the 14 classes in this course, students will create and present two works. There are no limits to the choice of genre; students may create a short film, documentary, music video, video art, or other type of work. Students will be divided into a maximum of 10 groups according to the genre and content of the work being created.
Assignments will account for the preferences of the participants but also involve connections with fields such as literature and music. For example, students may be asked to choose a specific work that inspires them from a collection of short stories by a certain author and create a work.
This workshop will focus on direction, but it also welcomes students who want to concentrate on technical aspects such as filming, lighting, editing, and acting. Projects of this nature will be evaluated on the same basis as those centering on the direction of a production.

映像作品は、様々な制約の下でつくられます。今後、プロの現場で映像制作を行っていく場合、「潤沢な予算」と「十分な時間」が与えられることは、ほとんどありません。しかし優れた映像作家は、そうした制約下の中でも、作品の中に自分の署名を残します。
このワークショップでは、ある一定の条件下で課題作品を制作することで「自分の作家性とは何か？」を追求していきます。

14回の授業期間に、２つの作品を制作・発表します。作品については、短編映画、ドキュメンタリー、ミュージックビデオ、ビデオアート等、ジャンルの制限はありません。その際、制作する作品のジャンル・内容に合せて、「10グループ」を上限に班分けを行います。
課題の内容は、ワークショップ参加者の映像嗜好も考慮しますが、文学や音楽等を絡めたものにします。例えば、「ある作家の短編集の中から一編を選び、インスピレーションを得て制作する」など。
基本的には、作品の演出にフォーカスして行うワークショップですが、撮影・照明・編集などの技術、あるいは役者に徹しての参加も歓迎し、演出と同等に評価します。
