The theory of image and embodiment is a field of thought and a discipline in which everyone asks and answers questions on the problematic topics of image and body. In order to approach this theory of image and embodiment, students learn the academic basics and development methods.
With specific images as examples, students learn and discuss the connection between human body and machine vision, the perception by the machine. In the end, students should become able to think of the meaning of studying this connection and the way to develop it. In the first half of the course, students have lectures and read the literature in order to check the basics of this connection. In the second half, each student chooses a set of photos, poses questions about them, researches and makes a report.

<映像身体学〉とは、映像と身体という問題系を通して、ひとりひとりが自らの問いをたてて回答していくための学びであり、思考の領域です。そのような〈映像身体学〉に向かうために、学問的基礎と展開の方法とを身につけることを目指します。
The theory of image and embodiment is a field of thought and a discipline in which everyone asks and answers questions on the problematic topics of image and body. In order to approach this theory of image and embodiment, students learn the academic basics and development methods.
具体的な写真映像を取り上げ、カメラという機械が生み出す機械映像と人間の身体との連関について議論し学んでいきます。最終的には、この連関を学ぶことにどのような意義があり、それを各人がどのように展開していけるのかを思考できるように学んでいきます。授業は、前半では、この連関の基礎を確認するために講義と文献講読とをおこない、後半では、学生各自が写真集を選び、それについて問いを立てて、調査、報告をおこなってもらいます。
