【Course Objectives】

This course aims to teach students how lifelong learning programs benefit Japanese society.

• Students will be able to research and discuss the history, policy and theory that supports lifelong learning in Japan.
• Students will be able to effectively review research sources.
• Students will be able to write an essay based on their research.
• Students will develop their autonomy, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.

【Course Contents】

This course focuses on lifelong learning in Japan. Students are required to develop a research question connected to an area of lifelong learning that they are interested in. They are then required to research their question and write an essay based on their findings. In this way, the course prepares students for applied research in the following semester. Students who continue in the second semester will be able to develop their essay for publication in Manabiai.
