【Course Objectives】

The goals of this course are to
(1) Deepen interest in and understanding of various sociological theories.
(2) Foster sensitivity to social problems and become able to consider familiar social problems sociologically.

【Course Contents】

"Social problem" is a name that covers a wide range of problems, and it can be said that all the subjects of sociology are social problems. There are social issues surrounding families, schools, and companies, as well as minority issues that arise in a society centered on the majority.
In order to clarify these social problems, theories such as functionalism, symbolic interactionism, constructionism, and narrative approach have been accumulated. This course, based on sociological theories about social problems, explains the process of constructing various problems in modern society for each theme and people’s actions surrounding these problems. Through these, this course aims to cultivate the abilities necessary to consider familiar social issues sociologically.
