【Course Objectives】

Poverty and social exclusion are spreading in contemporary global capitalism. As an alternative economic model, Social Solidarity Economy based on various types of solidarity is becoming popular internationally today. In this course we will learn about the current situations and possibilities of Social Solidarity Economy and the social enterprises that make up it.

【Course Contents】

In this course, at first we will consider the meaning and the actual situations of social enterprises, especially work integration social enterprises (WISE), and discuss the main two social enterprise thories in America and Europe. Secondly we will understand the meaning and possibilities of Social Solidarity Economy, while considering some practical examples in United Kingdom, Italy, South Korea, and Japan.
