【Course Objectives】

Continuing from Studies in Japanese History 5A, this course aims to have students understand issues and methods related to research into contemporary Japanese history, primarily through the reading of historical materials and the assessment of the history of research, and to position their own research problems within this.

【Course Contents】

Narrowing down its theme to how to approach micro-historical research in the history of contemporary Japan, the course will conduct readings of historical materials (with readings of diaries if possible) and of key documents. In addition, the course will provide opportunities for individual reports as appropriate, and advance students' preparations for producing a master's thesis.
