Along with cutting-edge research ranging from DNA replication to synthetic biology, students will also learn about the industrial development of basic research through startups and acquire the ability to shape the future on their own.
The ability to duplicate genetic information and create copies of ourselves (self-replication ability) is the foundation of life. Life is equipped with a sophisticated DNA replication system. The first half of the lecture will cover the basic and advanced aspects of DNA replication in bacteria.
The progress of DNA research is directly related to new biotechnologies. The second half of the lecture will introduce synthetic biology, a new trend in biotechnology, as well as the cutting edge of synthetic biology and industries such as artificial cells, genome synthesis, and biomedicine, based on the actual experience of founding a synthetic biology start-up.

DNA複製から合成生物学までの最先端研究とともに、スタートアップを介した基礎研究の産業展開についても学び、自身で未来を切り拓く力を身につける。

遺伝情報を複製し，自分自身のコピーを作り出す能力（自己複製能）は生命の根幹である。生命は巧妙なDNA複製システムを備えている。前半はバクテリアのDNA複製を主とした基礎から最先端までを取り上げる。
DNA研究の進展はまた，新たなバイオテクノロジーに直結するものである。後半は，バイオテクノロジーの新潮流である合成生物学について紹介するとともに，人工細胞、ゲノム合成、バイオ医療といった，合成生物学の先端と産業について、合成生物学スタートアップ創業の実体験に基づいて紹介する。
