This course aims to understand East Asia's media system and journalism culture from a global comparative perspective. Students will learn research skills, literature review, data analysis related to the media industry and journalism culture, questionnaires, fieldwork, interviews, and other research methods to carry out the research project.
This course will focus on comparing media systems and journalism cultures in East Asia. The target regions for comparison will be Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, considering the students' research interests.
Research methods will include media system analysis, qualitative media analysis, questionnaire surveys, fieldwork, and interviews. Students will learn theoretical analysis perspectives through reading literature and reviewing previous research, while each student will design their research plan and collect data. We will focus on media system analysis, qualitative media analysis, and questionnaire surveys in the spring semester. We will conduct field surveys in the target areas in the fall semester.

東アジア地域におけるメディア・システムおよびジャーナリズム文化について、グローバル比較の視点から理解する。調査研究を遂行するためのリサーチスキル、文献調査、メディア産業やジャーナリズム文化に関わるデータ分析、アンケート、フィールドワーク、聞き取り調査などの研究手法を学ぶ。
This course aims to understand East Asia's media system and journalism culture from a global comparative perspective. Students will learn research skills, literature review, data analysis related to the media industry and journalism culture, questionnaires, fieldwork, interviews, and other research methods to carry out the research project.
東アジアにおけるメディアのシステムおよびジャーナリズム文化の比較を主題とする。比較対象地域は、台湾、韓国、日本、そして香港、シンガポールなどを視野に入れて、受講生の構成や希望などを考慮して定める。
調査方法としては、メディアシステム分析、質的メディア分析、アンケート調査、フィールドワーク、聞き取り調査などを用いる。文献輪読を通して理論的な分析視点を学び、先行研究のレビューを行いつつ、各受講生は、自ら研究調査計画の設計、データ収集に取り組む。春学期中は、メディアシステム分析、質的メディア分析、アンケート調査を中心に行い、夏から秋学期中にかけて適切な時期にフィールド調査を行う。
