【Course Objectives】

In this course, students will read and discuss domestic and international literature on the intimate spheres and public spheres, with the aim of acquiring a theoretical framework for understanding the reorganization of "public" and "private" in the context of globalization.

【Course Contents】

In recent years, research on the reorganization of "public" and "private" has flourished, not only in the field of family studies but also in various other fields within the social sciences. These attempts have sought to redefine the current situation from a new framework as the traditional distinction between "public" and "private" becomes more dysfunctional due to social changes brought about by globalization. The themes of these studies are diverse, including family, gender, welfare, care, and labor.
In this lecture, students will learn about domestic and international research trends related to the reorganization of "public" and "private. In addition to reading the literature on research trends, students may be asked to report on its application to their own research topics.
