The course is not limited to religion in the narrow sense of the word, but also examines a wide range of contemporary spiritual situations from a sociological perspective. Topics include counseling, therapy, and the world of hobbies.
Students will be exposed to a variety of sociological debates through reading of literature and articles beyond the undergraduate level. Individual presentations will be given. There will be times when students will watch and discuss video materials.
In past years, one academic article is selected each week based on the interests of each student.

狭義の宗教にとどまらず、現代の精神状況を幅広く社会学的に考察する。カウンセリング、セラピー、趣味世界の話題も取り扱う。

学部レベルを超えた文献・論文を輪読することを通じて，多様な社会学の議論に触れる。受講者の個人発表もおこなう。映像資料を見て議論する回も設ける。
例年は、各学生の興味関心にも基づき、毎週１本の学術論文を取り上げている。
