Develop the skills necessary to analyze and interpret data in political science research.
This class is an introductory course for beginners in data analysis and statistics. It is designed for students who plan to write papers using data analysis methods, as well as those who wish to develop the ability to understand papers written by others using quantitative analysis methods.
The textbook used in this course, which can be found in the textbook field, is written in a format that enables students to learn the basic concepts of statistics and data analysis skills by reproducing academic papers with R. As a result, students will learn the methods of quantitative analysis and also have the opportunity to be exposed to previous research in various fields of social science.
Each chapter of the textbook will be covered over two weeks. In the first week, the instructor will give a lecture on the topics of our textbook. The second week will be used for discussion and exercise problems.

政治学リサーチのための基本的なデータ分析のスキルを身につける。

この授業は，これからデータ分析の手法を使った論文の執筆を予定している人はもちろん，計量分析の手法で書かれた他人の論文を理解・解釈できる能力を身につけたいと考えている人などを含む，データ分析と統計学の初学者向けの入門科目である。
今回使用する教科書（テキスト欄を参照）は，実際の学術論文で使われたデータをもとに，その分析手法を統計分析ソフトRで再現しながら，統計学の基本概念やデータ分析のスキルを学ぶ形式となっている。したがって，計量分析の手法を学習できるのはもちろん，政治学の各分野において先行研究によって明らかにされてきた知見にふれることも可能である。
基本的に，2回分の授業で1つの章に該当する内容を学習していく。前半（1）では教科書の内容に関する確認と解説を，後半（2）では練習問題の解答と解説を中心に行う予定である。
