We will understand the lyrics of Lutheran chorales. By analyzing these songs, we will be able to explain how Bach expressed these lyrics using sound with his cantata and Passion music and organ pieces.
An organist seeks hints on how to interpret the cantata and chorale from its lyrics when playing Bach’s organ chorales. As you know, Bach’s cantatas and Passion music were composed based on Lutheran chorales. In this course, we will take up cantatas and organ compositions based on the same chorale. We will examine with what method Bach used the same “material” to create music by musical analysis. The course will mostly consist of lectures, but I plan to have students give verbal presentations on several topics. In addition, we will also implement musical performances when necessary.

ルター派のコラールの歌詞内容を理解し、バッハがカンタータや受難曲、オルガン作品のなかで歌詞の内容をどのように音として描こうとしたかを、楽曲分析を通して説明することができる。

バッハのオルガン・コラール作品を弾く際、オルガニストは解釈の手掛かりをカンタータとコラールの歌詞に求める。バッハのカンタータや受難曲がルター派のコラールを基にして作曲されていることは周知のとおりである。この授業では、同じコラールに基づくカンタータとオルガン編曲を並べて取り上げ、バッハが共通の「素材」を用いてどのような手法で音楽を作り上げていったかを楽曲分析を通して考察する。基本的に講義形式で進めていくが、いくつかのテーマについては受講生に口頭発表を課す予定である。また必要に応じて演奏実践も取り入れる。

上記授業で取り上げるコラールの歌詞（ドイツ語）を読み込み、旋律を頭に入れておくこと。その他、必要に応じて別途指示する。予め配布したコラールの楽譜を譜読みしてくること。また必要に応じて楽曲分析の課題・発表を課すこともある。

| その他、授業中に適宜紹介する。また『バッハ全集』（小学館）のCDおよび解説書は重要な資料となるので、受講生は各自の関心に沿ってCDを聴き、解説を読み、バッハの音楽への理解を深めることが望ましい。（図書館所蔵） | |||||
授業で取り上げるコラール（ドイツ語）はクラス全員で歌唱するので、基礎的な読譜力を身につけている学生の受講を歓迎する。またカンタータ、オルガン編曲の回では録音資料、楽譜資料を用いて行う。個々の授業内容については受講生の人数や関心により多少の変更を加えることもある。
「キリスト教音楽に関する文献紹介」というプレゼンテーションを課すので、各自、早めに紹介する本を決定し、準備を進めること。
学部開設の「演習A１０」との併置科目である。
