【Course Objectives】

According to the United Nations happiness evaluation, Finland has been the number one in the world for the last five years, and has received a lot of attention from both the world and Japan. In addition, the number of Japanese traveling abroad has not increased in the last 30 years, but the number of Japanese traveling to Finland, which is far and expensive, is increasing year by year. In this class, we will consider trends in contemporary Finland travel, which are difficult to understand from the concept of tourism alone, through presentations and discussions by students. Through classes, students in the Master's Program are expected to flexibly relativize and expand their own perspectives on tourism activities and tourism resources.

【Course Contents】

When the OECD's Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) draws attention to the high academic ability of Finnish students, many Japanese, not to mention educators, will visit Finnish schools. Schools and education are by no means a tourism resource in the narrow sense, but they attract a large number of people to Finland. Similarly, there are many people who visit and inspect the welfare sites for the elderly in Finland. In addition, Scandinavian design and Moomin are not tourism resources in a narrow sense, but are familiar cultural elements that many Japanese people admire and interact with in Japan on a daily basis, but they are linked to the glittering concept of Scandinavian lifestyle. However, it is strongly attracting people to Finland. In this class, we will take up the various faces of Finnish society and culture as described in the lesson plan below, and consider how they are linked to Finland travel and its appeal.
