The course will consider some important texts in the field of media theory, particularly focusing on visual media. Through deeply understanding these recent media theory, we try to acquire the methods to analyze media, including cinema, television, and internet.
The course will consider books and articles dealing with media written by critics, including Steven Shaviro, D.N. Rodowick, and Thomas Lamarre. We will also examine the works and phenomena discussed in these books and articles. In this course, the discussion is important, through which the students will deepen the understanding on recent media theory.

とりわけ視覚メディアを中心として、近年のメディア論からいくつかの重要なテクストを読む。こうした最新のメディア論の研究を深く理解し、映画やテレビ、インターネットなどのメディアの分析をおこなうための方法論を獲得することを目指す。
The course will consider some important texts in the field of media theory, particularly focusing on visual media. Through deeply understanding these recent media theory, we try to acquire the methods to analyze media, including cinema, television, and internet.
Steven Shaviro, D.N. Rodowick, Thomas Lamarreなどのメディア論を精読する。またこうしたメディア論で論じられている作品や現象についても考察する。授業内でのディスカッションも重視し、最新の研究成果について理解を深める。
The course will consider books and articles dealing with media written by critics, including Steven Shaviro, D.N. Rodowick, and Thomas Lamarre. We will also examine the works and phenomena discussed in these books and articles.
