【Course Objectives】

The purposes of this course are for students to: (1) become accustomed to reading philosophy and aesthetics literature in a language other than that they typically use;
(2) after understanding the gist of modern critical theory, learn how to write concrete, theory-based critiques of art works; and
(3) understand why certain concerns and themes arose within modern political movements, political thought, and political philosophies, thereby gaining the ability to debate their contemporary meaning.

【Course Contents】

The purpose of this course is to read the papers on the theatrical works of Hölderlin-Brecht in multiple languages and then discuss and debate them.
