In this course, students will learn to independently analyze theoretical texts regarding moving images . They will also deepen their theoretical understanding of moving images, particularly in the genre of animation.
Students will primarily read the written works of animation researcher Paul Wells. They will learn how scholars have addressed the visual characteristics and history of animation in relation to live-action films and also how those elements have formed a basis for theoretical discussions of animation.

映像に関する理論的な文章を自身で読み解けるようになる。映像に関する理論的な理解、とりわけアニメーションという映像形態への理論的な理解を深める。
In this course, students will learn to independently analyze theoretical texts regarding moving images . They will also deepen their theoretical understanding of moving images, particularly in the genre of animation.
アニメーション研究者であるPaul Wellsの著作を中心に文献講読を行う。アニメーションの性質が実写映画と区別され検討される際に、どのような映像的特徴や歴史が指摘されてきたのか、それによってアニメーションがどのように理論立てて論じられるのかを学ぶ。
