【Course Objectives】

Continuing to the seminar in 2022 Autumn on philosopher Stanley Cavell on media, this course will examine Cavell's works with respect to media. At this time, the course will focus more closely on cinema. Through the works by Cavell, the important thought on cinema and media, this course will try to consider the experience of media.

【Course Contents】

After an introduction to the works of Cavell, we will consider some chapters from Must We Mean What We Say? as well as some articles from Cavell on Film. We will also read his books on cinema, including The World Viewed and Pursuits of Happiness. The course will also consider some articles on Cavell by other scholars.
