【Course Objectives】

This course will enable students to independently analyze theoretical texts regarding moving images and deepen students’ theoretical understanding of moving images. Students will also develop a theoretical ability to analyze the relationships between animation and other media in terms of history and characteristics.

【Course Contents】

Based on the knowledge of animation research that they gained from reading the works of Paul Wells during the Spring semester, students will read a variety of texts, including the works of Tom Gunning, Scott Bukatman, Hannah Frank, Donald Crafton, and Ester Leslie, to engage with a diverse mix of animation theories and learn about the overlap between animation and other media in terms of history and characteristics.
