This course will examine how the body relates to events taking place in society, including politics and culture, from the standpoint of dance, body expression, and cinematic expression. As they engage with these inquiries, students will carry out research by creating a work that involves moving their bodies to understand what thinking through the body signifies and the possibilities that it entails.
Students will heighten their sensitivity and awareness of their bodies in each class through simple exercises that involve a variety of body movements from both the East and West, including modern dance, yoga, chi kung, and aikido. Students will conduct research by engaging with videos and other works, mainly from the period since the emergence of post-modern dance, and study the diversity of choreography. At the end of the course, each student will present their research theme through the form of body expression or a workshop.

政治、文化など、社会全般の出来事と身体がどのように関わっているのかをダンス・身体表現、映像表現から考察していく。それと並行して、様々な身体技法、また作品制作を通して身体で思考するとはどういうことなのかを身体を動かしながら考え、その可能性について研究する。

モダンダンス、ヨガ、気功、合気道など東西の様々な身体技法から簡単に行えるトレーニングを毎回行い、身体への眼差し、その感性を高める。主にポストモダンダンス以降の作品を映像などで研究しながら、コレオグラフの多様さについて学ぶ。最終的にはそれぞれの研究テーマを身体表現、或いはワークショップという形態で発表。
尚、授業計画は授業を進めていく中で変更されることがある。
