It is an Introduction Phase subject aimed at deciding your research theme and selecting your academic advisor. You will learn the fundamentals of performing research, such as how to prepare a résumé, search materials, prepare a thesis, select a theme, and approach research.
In this class, students will report on their research while reading the literature on research methodologies that are essential for conducting empirical research . The purpose of this class is to critically examine the research interests of the students and to establish their research design in preparation for their master's thesis. The class course consists of (1) reading a textbook on survey methodologies, (2) reports on research concepts and previous research by students, and (3) lectures by the instructor in charge.

研究テーマの確定、指導教員選択に向けての導入期科目。レジュメ作成方法、資料検索方法、論文作成方法、テーマ選定、研究アプローチ等、研究する上での基礎的研究手法を学ぶ。

研究基礎では、実証研究を行う上で必須となる調査方法論に関する文献講読とともに、受講生の研究報告を行う。修士論文作成に向けて、受講者の研究関心を批判的に検討し、その研究枠組み（research design）を確立させることを目的とする。授業は、①調査方法論に関するテキストの輪読、②受講生による研究構想報告と先行研究の報告、③担当講師の講義（必要に応じて）から成る。
In this class, students will report on their research while reading the literature on research methodologies that are essential for conducting empirical research . 指定文献および研究テーマに関連する先行研究（日本語・英語どちらでもよい）の内容をレジュメをもとに報告する。また、現時点で予定している修士論文の研究テーマについて、研究構想を報告する（大学院入試の研究計画書を土台にしてもよい）。したがって、これらについての準備が必要となる。
