In Japan, "advocacy" in social work is often discussed in the context of the adult guardianship system. To fundamentally question what advocacy is, we need to refer to a global definition of the social work profession that has social justice, human rights, collective responsibility and respect for diversity at its core. Then we will reconsider users' daily lives in terms of rights, and we will notice new problems. The purpose of this lecture is to deepen understanding of the essence of advocacy by discussing it with the students through concrete examples and sharing points of discussion.
Classes are planned to proceed according to the sub-themes presented in the class plan, but I would like to strive for flexible class management while providing opportunities for discussion based on the research theme of each student.
Since this is a graduate course, we plan to actively incorporate not only lectures by faculty members, but also presentations and topic proposals by students themselves, with a focus on two-way discussion.

日本では近年、社会福祉における「権利擁護」が、判断能力の不十分な人々の契約制度や財産管理を担う成年後見制度との文脈で語られることが多くなってきている。しかし、社会正義、人権、集団的責任および多様性尊重を中核とするソーシャルワーク専門職のグローバル定義を参照し、権利とは何かを根源的に問えば、利用者を取り巻く日常生活を権利の観点から多角的に捉え直す必要があり、そこから新たな問題が浮上してくる。本講義では、権利の本質を具体的な事例を通して、受講者と共に討論し、論点を共有し合いながら、理解を深めることを目標とする。

授業は、授業計画に提示したサブテーマに応じて進めることを予定しているが、受講者各自の研究テーマに即したディスカッションの機会を設けつつ、柔軟な授業運営に努めたいと考えている。
大学院の授業であるため、教員によるレクチャーのみならず、受講生自身によるプレゼンテーションや話題提供を積極的に取り入れ、双方向ディスカッションをメインにして進める予定である。
