Learn methods and attitudes for observing social events based on data.
In today's society, there is a great deal of information based on social survey data such as statistics and interviews. We are required to be both the recipients and the senders of such information. However, in order to evaluate and use such information on one's own, it is necessary to have the support of accurate knowledge and ethics. In this course, students will learn the basic concepts of social research methods and how to use them. And we aim to assess correctly the significance of information based on social survey data, and to acquire skills in accurate information analysis.

現在の社会には、統計やインタビューといった社会調査データに基づく情報があふれています。私たちがこうした情報の受け手であることはもちろん、同時にその送り手であることを要求される場合も少なくありません。しかし、こうした情報を評価するのはもちろん、自分の手で調査し発信するためには、正確な知識の裏付けと社会的・倫理的な配慮が必要になります。そこで本講義では、いくつかの社会調査手法を支える基礎的な発想とその実践方法を学ぶことを通じて、社会調査データに基づく情報の意義を見極める能力を培うこと、そしてそれを自分自身の情報発信に生かす技法を身につけます。
In today's society, there is a great deal of information based on social survey data such as statistics and interviews. We are required to be both the recipients and the senders of such information. 「社会調査法」では、春学期にインタビュー、実地調査も含めた広範な授業を行います。秋学期に統計的手法に絞った演習・実習を行います。
本科目は授業回の全てにおいて、理論等学術的な知見を踏まえつつ、担当教員の実務家としての経験、または研究成果を活かし、教員と学生との双方向の討論を重視した実践的な授業とする。学生には、課題の発表や討論など、授業での積極的な参加を期待する。
