This course aims for students to learn about changes already impacting society, such as aging and declining populations, diversifying values, development of science and technology, globalization, and changes that might affect the future.
The purpose of this course is to be able to judge our own opinions and actions on what kind of society we want to be and how we should respond to change.
This course is intended for students to: (1) consider the welfare issues that will be faced in the future as society changes; (2) based on various discourses, repeatedly discuss and think about the welfare system from various viewpoints; and (3) summarize their individual opinions on how to respond to possible changes in society.

福祉とは「生きづらさ」を抱える人を支え、人の幸福を高めるための様々な取組と考えられる。その在り方には、明確な正解があるわけではなく、社会で暮らす私たち自身が、どのような社会を望むのかという意思を持ち、試行錯誤を重ねることで進化していく。まさに社会デザインの発想と取組が求められている。
この講義は、現代社会の福祉的課題を踏まえた上で、高齢化や人口減少、価値観の多様化、科学技術の発展、グローバル化など、社会に既に影響を与えつつある変化、将来、影響を及ぼす可能性のある変化を取り上げ、社会で日々暮らしている私たち自身が、どのような社会になることを望み、どう対応していくべきか、自らの意見と行動の判断ができるようになることを目標とする。
