The objectives of this course are to examine diverse socio-ecological issues concerning the Great Acceleration of the Anthropocene. It aims to design 'Social Design Studies in the Anthropocene' through reading key research articles and documents written in English.
In the late 20th century, the international society implemented a global development project leading to the rise of globalised consumerist society. This globalization of consumerist civilization is transforming Earth's biophysical equilibrium, which eventually leads to multiple climate change-related crises such as pandemics and food and energy crises. In this course, students discuss diverse socio-ecological issues concerning the Great Acceleration of the Anthropocence.

本演習では、人新世の大加速化時代に生きる人類が直面する主要課題をテーマ別に学ぶことを目標とする。関連する海外の最新記事や重要論文を英語で読み、国際的な議論の最前線を追いかけることで「人新世の社会デザイン学」の輪郭を受講生とともに描いていく。

20世紀の「開発」の時代、国際社会は世界規模での経済開発を進めてきた。その結果として起こった消費社会のグローバル化は地球システムの均衡を大きく改変し、気候変動と生物多様性の喪失に付随する複合的な危機（e.g., 新型感染症のパンデミック、食料危機、エネルギー危機）を生じさせるにいたっている。本講義では、国際社会でこれらの諸問題が議論される時によく言及される鍵概念や視点を海外の論文／記事から紹介し、人新世の社会デザイン学の基本的視座を養う。
＊各回の授業で海外の重要論文／記事（英語）を読み、ディスカッションを通じて理解を深めていく。
＊授業自体は日本語で行う。

本科目は授業回の全てにおいて、理論等学術的な知見を踏まえつつ、担当教員の実務家としての経験、または研究成果を活かし、教員と学生との双方向の討論を重視した実践的な授業とする。学生には、課題の発表や討論など、授業での積極的な参加を期待する。
