How can we achieve world peace? To address this question, this course aims to equip students with relevant academic tools to analyze "war and peace" as a dominant theme of international relations.
Through a survey of world history and research literature reviews of international relations, this course aims to help students to understand the causes of war and how military hostilities can be avoided. Additionally, students will also study concepts and methods of conflict resolution and peacebuilding, examine Japanese pacifism, and evaluate security policies for the future.

日本を取り巻くアジア情勢は、多様な価値観や考え方が衝突することが多く、国内外での対立が絶えません。 国際政治学の重要なテーマの一つである「戦争と平和」について学びながら、戦争や紛争は、なぜなくならないのか、平和な社会には、何が必要なのかという「問い」へ答えを考察し、追求することを目標とします。

授業では、戦争や紛争が起こる要因や解決方法について、国際政治の歴史や先行研究から学びます。冷戦終結後30年経過した国際社会において、平和や平和主義の概念についてあらためて考察し議論することで、日本の安全保障政策や「日本の平和外交」についても再検証します。
Through a survey of world history and research literature reviews of international relations, this course aims to help students to understand the causes of war and how military hostilities can be avoided.
