【Course Objectives】

This course gives students the necessary knowledge and tools in order to complete a graduate thesis. Students will develop a research topic, learn research methods, acquire the writing skills required for a thesis, become critical readers of academic literature, and put all such skills into practice.

【Course Contents】

The course will cover the broad field of language education with specific reference to the teaching of language, the learning of language, and the role of motivation in teaching and learning. Students will find their own areas of interests to explore, while gaining knowledge and experience in research methods. Students will be encouraged to attend lectures outside of class as well as present their understanding of material in class. By the end of the course, students will submit a thesis proposal.
