This course aims to acquire the basic knowledge needed to write a master’s thesis or conduct a research project in translation and interpreting. Students will carry out a preliminary investigation on a chosen topic using appropriate methodology and present the key findings at the end of the semester.
As a groundwork for writing a master’s thesis or carrying out a research project in translation and interpreting, the first half of the semester will be spent on learning from previous projects while receiving guidance from the instructor on how to conduct research. Students will utilize knowledge gained during this period to present an interim report outlining their research plan and the possible way forward. In the second half, students will carry out preliminary investigations and formulate research questions by discussing issues that arise during the process. At the end of the semester, students will share their findings and learning outcomes in the form of an oral presentation, which will become the basis of their final report.
