【Course Objectives】

To gain basic understanding of the origins and evolution of Translation and Interpreting Studies and to learn about different approaches to and methods in translation and interpreting research, with focus on those relevant to students' MA research.

【Course Contents】

Starting with discussion on what translation is and what interpreting is, this course provides an overview of Translation and Interpreting Studies, including its origins and evolution, and key concepts and theories. Then it focuses on different approaches to and methods in translation and interpreting research. Students are required to give a presentation on research methods and submit a final report.
